‘the beachhouse’ is the biggest selling South African wine in the USA
‘the beachhouse’ white blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon retailing at $10 has made quite a splash in the USA and is now South Africa’s biggest selling wine in that country.
As South Africans revel at the height of the summer and take to the beaches for the festive season, the beachhouse wines are spreading sunny South African cheer to warm up the USA winter.
Also in the 'All Imported Category for Sauvignon Blanc' wines from around the world for this same period, the beachhouse ranks at a very respectable 15th best seller in Dollar sales.
“This is a fantastic performance in only 7 months since the beachhouse hit the shelves,” says Greg Guy, DGB International Director. “Despite a cutthroat competitive global market, this result hints at the tremendous opportunity for South African wine with the right taste profile, price and packaging.”
First launched to rave reviews in the local market, the beachhouse captures the perfectly relaxed spirit of the Cape winelands with typically ripe sunny fruit flavors invigorated by a perky natural acidity. The white blend combines the feisty character of Sauvignon Blanc with more demure tones of Semillon in a clever combination of freshness and comfort.
This surge in international sales driven largely by the USA and Canada has been reinforced by an increase in online activity through the brand website and social media platforms, with a burgeoning interactive ‘the beachhouse’ community.
“We are delighted to end the year on this high note,” says Greg Guy. “We are very positive that the inroads made by brands like the beachhouse proffer well for South African wine in this diverse and challenging market.”
In the spirit of this Festive Season, DGB would like to wish our customers, suppliers, colleagues and friends all around the world a hearty Happy Christmas and a very Prosperous New Year with an enthusiastic toast to past success and continued great partnerships in 2012. Please remember - if you drink, please don't drive.Be safe and take care.
Boschendal's pink bubbly wins an International Medal
Boschendal Le Grand Pavillon Rose is the proud recipient of one of only 2 medals for South African Cap Classique in the hotly contested competition between the best sparkling wines in the world at the Effervescents du Monde judged in Dijon, France recently.
The Effervescents du Monde is now in its 9th year judged by a global panel of more than 100 bubbly experts.
Le Grand Pavillon Rose is the Non Vintage little sister to the celebrated multi award winning Grande Cuvee Brut 2007. "This is great international recognition for our pink bubbly," says Boschendal winemaker Lizelle Gerber. "It's easy to be seduced by the alluring colour and soft crushed raspberry cream flavours of this Cap Classique."
"This great news comes just in time for the festive season - not that you need any excuse to pop a few bottles all year round!" says Lizelle.
