Franschhoek Cellar hits the Top 10 Sauvignon Blanc List | |
Congratulations to Richard Duckitt and his team as Franschhoek Cellar Statue de Femme Sauvignon Blanc 2011 is included in the FNB Sauvignon Blanc Top 10 in South Africa announced in Cape Town on Friday.
“Franschhoek Cellar wines are all about friendly sophistication, and our Sauvignon Blanc is the epitome of this style,” says winemaker Richard Duckitt. “The 2011 vintage really played along with great tropical expressions and fresh natural acidity.” “Statue de Femme originates largely from cool Franschhoek centered vineyards delivering the graceful hallmarks of our valley,” says Richard. “It’s a delicate Sauvignon Blanc with depth and intrigue achieved by lees contact and a hint of Semillon to fill the midpalate. I am really excited that the beauty and potential of this style has been acknowledged amongst the most outspoken Sauvignon Blanc contenders in South Africa.” Inspired by the ‘Statue de Femme’ the graceful monument built in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the arrival of the French Huguenots in the Cape, Franschhoek Cellar Sauvignon Blanc is pretty and subtly nuanced with cool climate zesty grapefruit and tangy tropical pineapple at its core for delicious easy enjoyment and great value.
