Just like our French ancestors, we believe that every great wine deserves a great cheese!

At Franschhoek Cellar you can experience a very special taste adventure with Franschhoek Cellar wines and Truckles Traditional Cheese handmade by a local boutique cheese maker. We have teamed up with the folk at Truckles to create a sensory sensation with a specific cheese delicately matched to each of our single variety Franschhoek Cellar wines.

Some great matches to watch out for include the Franschhoek Cellar Statue de Femme Sauvignon Blanc with a deliciously creamy goats milk cheese that perfectly rounds off the crisp tart edges of the perky wine. Or for the more adventurous palate, the pungent yet flavourful Gorgonzola nibbled in tandem with our Franschhoek Cellar Baker Station Syrah is almost worthy of spontaneous applause!

But don’t take our word (or tastes) for it! Come and experience the great pleasure of some of the best South African wine and cheese right here at our cellar door.

We offer:
WINE TASTINGS
WINE & CHEESE SALES
CHEESE & WINE PAIRING    (By appointment only)
CHEESE PLATTERS

Although we welcome spontaneous visits, we do encourage you to please make your reservation in advance to be sure of the very best availability and service

Bellingham’s ancestral home on the original Bellingham farm in the magnificent Franschhoek valley provides a luxury immersion in the beauty of the Cape winelands playing host to our most valued local and international guests.

The historic cottage located alongside the national monument Bellingham Manor house once served as our founder’s  guest accommodation for famous visitors including author Frederick Forsythe, foreign politicians Ian Smith and Clifford du Pont, actors Joan Brickhill and Michael Atkinson, and nephew of the great British leader, Peregrin Spencer Churchill.

Fondly known as  ‘The Bellingham’, the cottage underwent extensive reconstruction by architect Sakkie Rust and builders Frank and Adriano Bertoncello as well as full interior design by Stephanie Bentum to restore the structure and retain its historic charm. The result is a beautifully furnished and decorated locale that captures the Bellingham heritage in authentic, lavish style whilst remaining restful and approachable.

By Invitation Only.
