Bellingham has a history that can be traced back to 1693 when the land was granted to one of the original French Huguenot families that settled in the Franschhoek Valley of the Cape winelands. Through the centuries, Bellingham has produced wines under the hand of many visionary and talented proprietors, but none so dynamic and respected as Bernard Podlashuk, who is regarded as the great patriarch and founder of the world class Bellingham wine brand of today. Bellingham’s Bernard Series of wines honours the memory of the man known fondly as Pod, who is responsible for many South African ‘firsts’ in wine, including the first dry white blend, the first Rose and the first Shiraz single variety released in the Cape. Our winemaking team is driven by his inspired passion, emotion and innovation in order to create fascinating modern wines of interest to the ever-changing consumer palate. Bellingham’s winemaking philosophy is one of minimal intervention. The Bernard Series
The Bernard Series represents the pinnacle of the Bellingham winemaker’s art. Named after Bernard Podlashuk, founder of Bellingham and a pioneer of the South African wine industry, this series of wines represent the individuality and uniqueness that have made his name a lasting legacy.
Bernard Podlashuk was never quite satisfied to be just ordinary, and is famous for his daring vision, sheer audacity and unabated ambition to push the boundaries of possibilities for Cape wines. The legend of Bernard’s tenacity and innovative flair lives on through The Bernard Series, Bellingham’s range of extraordinary wines.
Our Town Hall Chardonnay gives off beautiful pure and bright pineapple and lemon and lime fruit purity and intensity on both nose and palate with a perky balancing acidity to the frisky finish making this a gracious and engaging wine even without oak.
The Beach House
A holiday in a glass. Lively succulent summer fruit & spice tinged shiraz tempered by the penetrating ruby depth and easy going tannins from mourvedre all finely entwined with the seductive aromatics of viognier.
This Sauvignon Blanc displays a fairly unique array of flavours. The initial impression is subtle yet extremely focused with prominent pear, passion fruit, yellow peach and pineapple fruit aromas that develop further on the palate to a crisp clean finish packed with freshness and zing.
Tall Horse Wine
A charming light bodied Chenin Blanc with a safari of ripe fruit pineapple flavours and tantalising melon aromas, crisp and zesty on the palate.
An irresistible juicy natural sweet rosé, St Claire is a pretty cherry pink with tempting crushed strawberry and Turkish delight aromas that explode in succulent candied red berry flavours. The light alcohol makes this easy drinking and great lunch time wine.
Rib Shack Red
This South African blend of 70% pinotage and 30% shiraz is in top form at tailgates and other outdoor events where the meat smoker is out and running at full force. Indeed, the wine's big flavors of dark fruit, cherry, tobacco, and its smoky finish pair incredibly well with barbecue and hearty cuts of beef.

At the tip of Africa lies the Cape of Good Hope, or ‘Old Cape’ to the settlers of South Africa who first made wine over 350 years ago. The grapes for Oude Kaap wines are meticulously selected from the finest vineyards to capture the vibrancy of fruit that reflects their unique Cape origins.
DGB(Pty)Ltd was formally established in 1990, although our true roots extend over 300 years when winemaking began at the Boschendal and Bellingham farms in the Cape Winelands. In fact, we were doing things a little differently in the 1940’s already, when Douglas Green pioneered the wholesale sales model for wine in Paarl.
Today, we are one of South Africa’s largest independent wine and spirit producers and distributors.
